This very basic scene was the first environment that I felt confident in sharing. Learning how a scene should be constructed and put together, while making sure that the area doesn't feel barren was my main concern when making this, and after finishing I realize that I still have a ways to go in order to properly develop and flesh out my environments.

In trying to bolster my skills in environment art, I turned to looking for concept art and sketches that pushed me to learn new techniques and abilities. When I came across Sammy Khalid's No. 235 a couple months ago, I knew it was a perfect opportunity to reconfigure my hard modelling skills and finally start to delve into experimenting with texture creation. I didn't manage to go as in depth as I wanted to in both categories, but I still learned a lot.

A simple prop that I modelled and sculpted over the course of several days. This arose as a custom item for a Dungeons and Dragons campaign that I run for my friends, and since this particular item was very unique to my own needs, I decided to model it myself.

The challenge that I faced was figuring out how to create a broken tablet that was split up into four chunks before being reassembled later on. Each chunk needed it's own feel and wear to it, and I had to think how each piece would've been treated over it's lifespan and how careful each owner would be.

Once I had a base mesh assembled, I got to beat, scrape, and bend each piece as much as I could without breaking the mesh as a whole. Luckily I had a lot of flexibility with Blender's boolean modifiers, allowing me to go back and break the plate in various places to get the look I needed. A simple material and some minor decal work later, and this tablet is the final result.

Tuvan's Plate

A warhammer that was inspired by a player in my DnD campaign. This was the first model that I felt confident in sharing with others, and the first model that I thoroughly thought through to the very end. From concepting the overall shape with the player, to figuring out the metal detailings on the hammer's head, each step was an experience in figuring out a good and efficient workflow.

Ironfist Warhammer

In experimenting with Trim Sheets and figuring out the workflow that is needed for producing environments, this colosseum was the centerpiece for a project that didn't fully pan out, mostly because of developing the aforementioned workflows. I had modelled the individual kit pieces I used for the colloseum before developing and researching the full extent of the textures I was envisioning, and upon beginning the texturing process I quickly realized why you develop your textures and trim sheets before the bulk of the modelling begins. And, in not wanting to be bogged down by reformating and remaking the project, I elected to simply scrap the rest of the scene and focus on finishing out the colosseum as a lone asset.
